Over the last few years we have seen a growing trend of people moving to Puerto Rico from the mainland looking for warmer weather and lower taxes. A few years ago the Puerto Rico government implemented several tax incentive decrees collectively known as [Act 20/22](http://puertoricotaxincentives.com/act-22-individual-investors-act/), to incentive investors, business leaders and successful entrepreneurs to move to the island with their families and generate economic activity. After being in effect for a few years, there are more than 1,000 individuals who are now Puerto Rico residents benefiting from the tax decrees.
Moving to a new place with your family can be very challenging. Some of the main concerns Americans have is where to receive adequate healthcare and having access to high quality doctors on the island. Puerto Rico's current health care system is broken, especially after hurricane Maria, as many doctors have left the island in search of better opportunities in the US. As a result, there is poor access due to fewer doctors and clinics, leading to longer waiting times and lack of care coordination. Many Americans have trouble finding healthcare facilities and professionals that provide US standard of care.
